Description
In this talk, I will share my experiences attending the European Space Agency's Human Physiology Training Course at the ESA Academy headquarters in Belgium. Over a week, I had the opportunity to learn from leading scientists in space medicine, exploring the unique challenges faced by the human body in microgravity and the innovative technologies developed to overcome them. I’ll also discuss a collaborative project focused on mitigating microgravity's effects to enhance lunar vehicle operations, highlighting how space medicine advances can inform healthcare on Earth. This lecture aims to inform and inspire future medical professionals to consider the exciting intersections of space exploration and medicine. Kamran Sidhu is an F1 Doctor specializing in Cardiology at Worthing, with a keen interest in extreme environmental medicine, including space medicine. Passionate about understanding how the human body adapts to challenging conditions, Kamran has sought opportunities to broaden his knowledge in this area. Recently, he attended the European Space Agency's Human Physiology Training Course, where he explored the unique physiological challenges of human spaceflight, including microgravity’s effects on the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems, and the innovative technologies designed to mitigate these issues.
